Bond’s favorite car brand has recently added a new member in its family, its Aston Martin AM310 Vanquish. Launched as a successor to Aston Martin DBS, the Aston Martin AM 310 Vanquish features a stunning visual design with some new styling cues including a new side profile, elongated side strakes and LED rear light blades taken from the Aston Martin One-77.
The British supercar features next generation VH architecture where each body pane is made of carbon fiber. The body shell torsional rigidity has been improved by over 25 percent, according to the manufacturer.
Vanquish is lash with a 6.0 litre V12 power plant which produces 565 bhp (573 PS / 421 kW) and maximum twisting force of 620 Nm (457 lb-ft) via a Touchtronic 2 six-speed automatic gearbox. All this mechanical setup shoot’s this Beauty from 0-62mph in just 4.1 seconds and give it a top speed of 183 mph (295 km/h).
Now here’s an observation, have you noticed something? The AM310 has an automatic gearbox over a manual which was offered in DBS. That means, in context to James Bond is that cool shots of Bond shifting gears will be replaced with overly-aggressive shots of him clicking some fluffy paddles.
In comparison, the Vanquish is 55 kg lighter than DBS and has a 50/50 weight distribution but it’s slightly slower than the DBS.
“This is the latest incarnation of everything we know, informed and developed from One-77. It is the ultimate Super Grand Tourer – confident and assured – and is the newest representation of Power, Beauty and Soul.” explained Dr. Ulrich Bez (Aston Martin Chief Executive Officer)
The newly two-door coupe is available in a 2+0 or optional 2+2 seating configuration. Priced from $279,995, first deliveries of this new sports car are expected to begin in the UK and Continental Europe late in 2012.
