Facelifted 2013 BMW X1 Revealed

The 2013 BMW X1 has been leaked ahead of its official announcement at the New York Auto Show, these updates come just two and half years after its entry-level SUV was first revealed in its production guise.

In a move to rid the car of its black plastic cladding and provide it with a more upmarket appearance, the X1 receives a host of subtle exterior styling tweaks.

Changes include the adoption of a more heavily contoured front bumper with an altered grille featuring silver slats, more pronounced sockets for the round fog lamps and a completely redesigned lower section finished with a silver accent.

The headlights are redesigned, and feature the classic LED halo rings around the optional HID projector lamps, along with strips of LED accent lights within the housing.  The interior was also retouched with newly designed surfaces, like electroplated trim surrounding the gear selector and center console cup holders, and a high-gloss black finish applied to the air vent trim.

Information and pricing on the new-to-the-U.S. BMW X1 compact crossover has leaked this morning. Starting at $31,545 including destination, the smallest of BMW’s so-called Sport Activity Vehicles will offer two engines in three different models when it goes on sale this fall.
Both the sDrive28i and xDrive28i are powered by BMW’s new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine delivering 240-horses, while the xDrive35i gets a 3.0-liter turbocharged six with 300hp.
Regardless of the engine choice, all X1′s get an automatic gearbox and a Brake Energy Regeneration system, while the 2.0L turbo models also feature a Start and Stop system as standard.
